The TRSV Tubing-Retrievable Safety Valve is a flapper-type, hydraulically operated safety valve designed for installation in the production string. It serves as a fail-safe mechanism to shut in a well in the event of an uncontrolled surface or subsurface incident. The valve remains open under hydraulic control pressure and closes when the control pressure is released.
The TRSV features a robust hydraulic piston that ensures a reliable control system, while isolating critical internal components from well fluids. It employs a metal-to-metal (MTM) body joint and a MTM flapper & seat design, providing superior well containment and long-term sealing performance.
Additionally, the optional self-equalizing feature allows the pressure drop before the flapper starts to open, preventing direct flow across the critical MTM seal interface.
The TRSV can be permanently locked open using a lock-out tool, establishing communication between the TRSV hydraulic chamber and the tubing string for the installation of a wireline retrievable insert valve or a flow control device.
