Landing Nipples are downhole components designed to provide a specific landing location for various flow control devices. They feature a seal bore and internal profile and are installed as an essential part of the tubing string. These nipples serve as locking, sealing, and retention points for lock mandrels and are also used to install tubing hangers, downhole flowmeters, soft gauge hangers, and other completion components.

Common types include:

No-Go Type Nipples – Provide a fixed stop for tools at a specific location.
Selective Type Nipples – Allow tools to land at different depths in the well.
Ported Safety Valve Nipples – Specifically designed to seat, seal, and control wireline safety valves.

During well design, the location and number of landing nipples should be strategically planned to maximize the effectiveness of other flow control accessories.

Additionally, different nipple models are optimized for specific tubing weights:

RX & RXN Landing Nipples – Designed for standard weight tubing.
RR & RRN Landing Nipples – Designed for heavy weight tubing.
