The Mechanical Production Packer is a retrievable, double-grip packer designed for compression or tension-set applications in production operations. It can be left in tension, compression, or a neutral position while maintaining pressure integrity from above or below. The packer incorporates a large internal bypass to minimize the swabbing effect during run-in and retrieval. The bypass automatically closes when the packer is set and opens first upon release, ensuring pressure equalization before the upper slips disengage. Additionally, the upper-slip releasing system reduces the force required to unset the packer, with a non-directional slip releasing first, simplifying retrieval.
