Surface Drive Progressive Cavity Pump (PCP) System
The surface drive progressive cavity pump (PCP) system is a highly efficient artificial lift solution consisting of a surface drive unit and a downhole progressive cavity pump. It is specifically designed for handling high-viscosity, sand-laden, and live well production operations.
Working Principle
The surface drive unit transmits rotational motion to the downhole PCP via the sucker rod string. The PCP operates as a positive displacement pump, where the rotor rotates within the stator, forming a series of progressing cavities that continuously transport fluid from the suction end to the discharge end. This mechanism allows for a steady, non-pulsating flow of formation fluids from the downhole to the surface.
✅ Energy Efficiency – Offers significant energy savings due to its smooth operation and reduced mechanical losses.
✅ Extended Pump Life – Long pump inspection intervals lower maintenance costs and operational downtime.
✅ Versatile Well Applications – Ideal for high-viscosity crude, sand-laden fluids, and gas-lift wells.
✅ Wide Operating Range – Handles fluid displacements ranging from 1 to 400 m³/d.
✅ Deep Well Capability – Supports maximum landing depths of up to 2000m, making it suitable for deep well applications.
🔹 Heavy Oil & High-Viscosity Fluids – Handles thick crude with minimal emulsion formation.
🔹 Sand Production Wells – Tolerates sand cut fluids better than conventional pumps.
🔹 Live Well Production – Effectively lifts fluids in wells with high gas content.
🔹 Low-Rate & High-Rate Wells – Suitable for both low-volume and high-volume production scenarios.
