Electrical Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump (ESPCP) System
The Electrical Submersible Progressive Cavity Pump (ESPCP) system is an advanced artificial lift solution that utilizes a multi-stage permanent magnet motor (PMM) to drive a progressive cavity pump (PCP). The motor is directly connected to the pump via a flexible shaft, ensuring efficient crude oil lifting to the surface.
This innovative rodless pumping system eliminates tubing wear, offers high reliability, low maintenance, and silent operation, making it particularly suitable for:
- Conventional oilfields
- Urban oilfields
- Offshore platforms
- Heavy oil wells with sand production
- High-inclination, cluster, horizontal wells
- Coalbed methane (CBM) dewatering and gas recovery
System Components
The ESPCP system consists of the following key components:
- Submersible Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Motor – Provides low-speed, high-torque, and energy-efficient operation.
- Protector – Protects the motor and enhances its lifespan.
- Coupling – Made of wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant materials to improve torque transmission, reduce vibrations, and ensure operational accuracy.
- Progressive Cavity Pump (PCP) – Features an interchangeable stator and rotor, with customizable rubber stators to adapt to different well conditions.
- Surface Control Cabinet – Enables digital remote monitoring and intelligent operation.
✅ High Efficiency & Energy Savings – The direct-drive PMM system achieves 90% energy savings compared to electric heating rod wells and 60% savings compared to conventional sucker rod pumps.
✅ Large Flow Area & Low Shear Forces – Ensures efficient heavy oil lifting with minimal fluid emulsification.
✅ High Starting Torque – The PMM drive provides up to 1.8–2 times the rated torque, perfectly matching the start-up characteristics of PCPs.
✅ Low Power Supply Voltage – Reduces cable requirements and enhances operational flexibility.
✅ Rodless Artificial Lift – Eliminates rod and tubing wear, surface noise, and potential leak points at the wellhead.
✅ Compact & Space-Saving – Requires no surface equipment, making it ideal for cluster well development.
✅ Adjustable Speed Control – Provides easy speed adjustments, reducing labor intensity and operational costs.
✅ Intelligent Digital Monitoring – Equipped with downhole temperature and pressure sensors, enabling:
- Constant liquid level control
- Automated intermittent pumping
- Real-time system status monitoring
